It wasn't beyond the realms of possibility, that the supremely beautiful Laura might really have remembered him from all those years ago was it? That she should have harboured a secret desire for him and now, after all this time, she really wanted him?
Atticus Drake, a perfectly nice, well-mannered man of almost forty, currently without much to do, barely hesitates when he is invited to accompany the object of his first youthful passion to a party in Venice, the City of Dreams. But it's not long before he begins to realise that the trip of a lifetime may not be quite what it seems. The City, with its alleys and canals, its masks and mysteries and a variety of curious characters all seem to hold secrets that he's not at all sure he wants to uncover.... This is Atticus Drake's first outing. I wrote about Venice because I remembered it as a not only a beautiful city, but one where any number of secrets may lurk. I spent a few weeks in an apartment in the centre of the city, not far from Florian's where Atticus has prosecco with Kate, and was completely overwhelmed by the architecture, the sense of history, and the combination of excitement, opulence, decadence, and mystery. I hope you enjoy it! If you do, please remember to post a review on Amazon, as it really helps me as an independent writer to get the word out, and build readership, which in turn will mean I can spend more time writing books, and you can spend more time reading them. Atticus Drake's next mystery, Funeral of the Sardine will be available to buy from amazon in early October 2015. Subscribe below to be the first to know on publication day! |
