Having been the subject of an unexpected adventure in Venice, and following a long, dark and grey English winter, Atticus Drake could be forgiven for jumping at the chance to spend some time on a yacht in the Canary Islands, courtesy of his old friend, Salty Clarke. He packed a hat and an appropriate book and set off for the sun, the sea, and some R and R.
But if he was hoping for a peaceful time, he was about to be more than surprised. The island's sailing port turns out to harbour more than boats, and Salty is in trouble…. This is Atticus Drake's second outing, and this time, he's visiting an old haunt of mine. I spent about two years in the Canary Islands a few years ago, working on boats, in bars, and in property retailing, experiencing all that a sunshine lifestyle has to offer - and it isn't all quite as much like Paradise as it looks! But I did have a wonderful time. I made many friends, and challenged myself to do things I never imagined I would do. Living abroad is a real rite-of-passage for a born and bred Englishperson, and I would highly recommend it to everyone at some point in their lives. However, unlike me, Atticus is just on holiday. Or is he...? I hope you'll read Funeral of the Sardine, and love it. Don't forget to leave a review on Amazon if you can, as it's that which helps me get up the rankings, and propel Atticus Drake to the forefront of Amazon recommendations. Let me know what you think too, won't you? Atticus will be back soon. I'm just starting work on his third adventure, provisionally titled A Bite in the Big Apple. I anticipate publication will be in January 2016. If you'd like to be the first to know, sign up to this site. Follow me on twitter @torabarrywriter too. Thank you for being here. Tora |
